How NOT To Leave a Tract!

I found this image on a leading consumer blog this evening (source links below). This is a HORRIBLE way to leave a tract. Even more disappointing than the way the tract was left is the HORRIBLE content of this tract that has now been viewed by thousands (if not tens of thousands) of people!!

This is one of the worst tracts I have ever seen. No mention of the Law to show people why they are a sinner or why Hell is reasonable. It tells the person to “accept Jesus”, Jesus doesn’t need out acceptance, we need His! No mention of repentance. No explanation of why Jesus’ death on the cross paid for our sins, etc…

Christians… NEVER use tracts like this and NEVER leave a tract as a tip without also leaving a LARGE tip.

I have blurred the bottom of the image since the included graphic may be deemed as inappropriate by some of my readers. You can click on the image to see a larger view if you wish to read the tract.

My 6 and 8 Year Old Passing Out Tracts 10/11/2011

This is a video of my 6 and 8 year old boys passing out tracts at ISU. This is the second week they have gone out with me and a small group of people to do tract distribution, one to one witnessing, trivia and open air preaching.

It is amazing to see how the Lord can use two young men to spread His word! They are able to pass out more tracts than the adults! People who I know would have refused tracts from me take one from them, pat them on the head and tell them they are cute!!

I have really been convicted to find witnessing opportunities that involved my family and didn’t take me away from them. I have already seen God bless the witnessing when I have obeyed and taken my family with me. God willing, in a few more years I will have grown sons to go out with me whenever we want who are so used to doing it that it seems natural!

Praise God for His wonderful gift of children! My prayer is that all my children come to saving faith in the Lord and grow to be faithful witnesses for Him!!

Creating QR Codes

Since posting the article “Spreading The Word About 180” people have asked what I used to create the QR codes. I actually used two different sites to create the QR codes, QR Stuff and Kerem Erkan.

QR Stuff (http://www.qrstuff.com/)
I used QR Stuff to create the 12 codes on one sheet. I could have created the large QR code on the site as well, if I had a paid subscription. Of the two sites, QR Stuff looked like the most complete site. If I were to create QR codes for a business or comercial project, I would probably go with a paid account on QR Stuff. With the paid subscriptions they had many options for QR creation and tracking as well as options to change the linked URL on active codes (if using the QR Stuff link shortener).

Kerem Erkan (http://keremerkan.net/qr-code-and-2d-code-generator/)
The second site I used was Kerem Erkan. Kerem Erkan was able to create the larger full sheet QR codes without a subscription.

Spreading The Word About 180

After watching the 180 Movie from Living Waters, I wanted to spread the word about it to ensure that as many people as possible saw it. Living Waters offers a back window car decal for the movie. I ordered one of those (You can get those by clicking this link), but I wanted to do something while waiting for that to come in. Here is what I came up with…

You can download the files to print off the QR codes below…

Large 180 Movie QR Code (This is one large QR code that can be printed on a standard 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of paper)
12 180 Movie QR Codes (This is 12 Small QR codes that can be printed on a standard 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of paper)

180 Movie

Living Waters has recently release a documentary called “180″ which talks about the Holocaust in WWII and then contrasts that with what is happening with abortion today. It also has an excellent Gospel presentation. They posted the entire video on YouTube so that it can be watched for free! I highly recommend watching this to anyone considering having an abortion, or to anyone who would like to learn good ways to discuss abortion with others.

You can watch the movie free here: www.180movie.com

Posting Update

I still haven’t decided quite where to take this blog yet, but I will be posting a few new posts over the next month or two.  Check back once a week or so for new content, or you can add this site’s RSS feed to your feed reader.

Thanks!

No New Posts Until 7/1/2011

Recently, I have been thinking a lot about how to get out and witness more, but the more I did go out, the more it took away from the little time I had with my family.  This really caused a conflict in me because I wanted to witness, but I didn’t want to ignore my family.  I have heard stories of, and seen, many Christian families who loose their children because the kids get lost in the mix of work, ministry, Church activities, etc… and I don’t want that for my family.

I started praying that God would show me what His will was for my life and ministry.  God has really answered that prayer over the last few months and shown me that I need to focus on my primary ministry which is my wife and kids (7, 5, 3 and 2).  I have been doing evangelism activities that take away from my limited time with them, and I have really been convicted to dedicate as much time to them as possible.  I am going to try to refocus my evangelism on things that don’t take away from family time or, better yet, that I can include my wife and kids in.

As a father, I am to bring my children up in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord” (Eph 6:4).  I have really been convicted to have consistent family devotions and spend as much time as possible with my kids.  Many sermons that I have heard recently have driven this home, as well as some verses that have been standing out to me.  In trying to figure out how to manage my time in a way that allowed me to witness more and spend time with my kids, I came across the book “Redeeming The Time” by Steven Maxwell; it really drove home the importance of time with my wife and children (I also highly recommend it to any Christian man who may read this post).

I have come to the conclusion that if a witnessing opportunity, ministry, church activity, secular activity, etc… will take away from the time that I have for my wife and children, then it is probably not what God wants me to do.  If I am going to train up my children in the way that they should go (Pro 22:6), then I have to be with them to do that.

Until I get a schedule figured out and decide which activities are unnecessary and which are good to keep, I am cutting out anything that doesn’t absolutely have to be done.  I will add them back in later if I have the time, and they do not interfere with my primary ministry which is my family.  This blog is one of the things I need to temporarily cut, so I will not be posting on here again until July 1st, 2011.  At that time I will either start posting again, add another update, change the blog, or close the blog.

In the meantime, I highly encourage you to check out all the resources I have listed on the Learn to Witness page.
